Dracula - October 8th 7pm

Dracula is an original ballet which will be performed as the kickoff to the American Liberty Ballet's 10th Anniversary Season. The ballet is based on the original 1897 novel by Bram Stoker and closely follows the details of the iconic classical story.

The concept and storyline of the ballet was envisioned by Michael Buoni. With choreography by Michael Buoni and ALB artistic director Valerie Mae Browne, the ballet is a sequence of carefully selected classical masterpieces which bring to life the chilling tale. The performances will be at the Theater of St Jeans on 76th and Lexington in Manhattan on October 7th, 8th, and 9th.

The cast is comprised of over 30 local artists from the metropolitan NYC area. The ballet stars artists of international fame and experience. Veterans of Slovak National Theatre, Ballet Hispanico, Ohio Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, The Russian National Ballet, and The Metropolitan Opera will be dancing the lead roles.

The ballet is a true dance theater experience. The intimacy of the Theater of St Jeans, and the carefully coached moments of action allow for a more nuanced and real portrayal of the storyline. 'I want the audience to experience in a real way the moments of terror and passion of the story's main characters. My background in TV and film as well as my extensive performing experience as an actor and concert dancer, inspired me to focus not just on the beautiful lines and bravura technique of the artists, but to bring together in a real way those moments which draw the audience in and take them on the journey through this scary and thrilling story."
